Mapleton borders Springville, so our Springville office is about as close as it gets. Homes here sit up on the bench below Maple Mountain, and the water reaching them comes from city wells.
Around Mapleton
Mapleton started out as Union Bench, a farming extension of Springville. A legal fight, mostly over water rights, let it incorporate as its own town in 1901, and it became a city in 1948. Hobble Creek marks its north edge, and the town climbs toward the peak locals call Maple Mountain, officially Spanish Fork Peak, with Maple Canyon and Whiting Campground beside it.
Mapleton City Park sits at Maple Street and Main Street, Ira Allan Park is on 800 West, and the Mapleton Canyon trail heads up into the mountains. Movie fans may know the town from the 2001 film Brigham City, which was filmed here rather than in Brigham City itself.
Mapleton's Wells
Mapleton City's 2023 Water Conservation Plan says its most reliable culinary water sources are the city's four wells: the Carnesecca, Seal, Westwood and Crowd Canyon wells. Springs in Maple Canyon were taken out of the culinary system a few years before the plan, and the city is planning to rehabilitate them.
Well water picks up hardness minerals as it moves through rock, so a home on Mapleton city water should expect hard water.
Getting the Most From Your Water in Mapleton
Because Mapleton's culinary water comes from its city wells, you're on groundwater year-round. If the Maple Canyon springs come back into the system after rehabilitation, the mix could change, so that's a good time to retest and adjust your softener.
Water Softener and Water Treatment in Mapleton
A water softener is the main fix for Mapleton's well-sourced water. If you also notice a chlorine taste, a Water Softener + Carbon Filter Combo softens and filters in one tank.
