Water Softener Installation & Repair in Salt Lake City

Water Softener Installation

Wasatch Front water is hard, and that hardness leaves scale inside your water heater, spots on your glasses and a film on your shower door. A water softener removes the calcium and magnesium at the main line before they reach any of it. We size the system to your household and your water, with options ranging from a single-tank softener to a dual-tank softener with a dedicated carbon filter, and a salt-free conditioner if you'd rather skip the salt. We quote the equipment and the install together, before we start.

Water Softener Repair

A softener that has stopped regenerating, a salt bridge in the brine tank, or hard water coming back after years of soft usually means a worn control valve, bypass or brine tank rather than a dead system. We supply the valves, bypasses, baskets and brine tanks for the systems we install. A repair usually costs less than a new system, and we'll tell you honestly which one makes sense.

Cleaner Water for Every Tap in the House

Reverse Osmosis Systems

Softened water still carries dissolved solids and the chlorine taste from the city plant. A reverse osmosis system under your kitchen sink strips them out, so you get bottled-quality drinking water from its own faucet. We install tankless and tank-style units across Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake Valley, and whole-house RO where you need volume.

Whole-House Water Filtration

Chlorine smell in the shower, grit in your aerators, or blue-green stains from acidic water are problems at the main line, not the tap. Our whole-house carbon, sediment and pH-neutralizing systems treat every drop before it reaches your fixtures. Tell us what you're seeing and we'll match the filter to it.

Well Water Treatment

Orange stains, a rotten-egg smell, or water that goes cloudy in the glass are classic signs of iron and sulfur in a well. We install air-injection iron filters and hydrogen-peroxide systems built for problem wells, paired with a softener for hardness. Private well owners from Alpine to Herriman don't have to live with it.

Proudly Serving Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front

From our offices in Salt Lake City, Draper and Springville we cover Salt Lake County, south Davis County and Utah County, from Bountiful down to Spanish Fork. Salt Lake City Public Utilities says more than 60 percent of its water starts in Wasatch canyon streams, with harder well water added in summer, so what reaches your tap can change through the year.

Common Questions

How much does a water softener cost to install?

It depends on the system, the size your household needs and the plumbing at your main line, so we quote each job individually. A single-tank softener is the most affordable option; dual-tank and well-water systems cost more because they do more. Either way you get one price for equipment and installation before any work starts.

How fast can you get back to me?

About 10 minutes on average. Call the office nearest you, Salt Lake City, Draper or Springville, or send the form.

I'm on city water. Do I still need a softener?

Most likely, yes. City treatment makes water safe to drink, but it doesn't remove the calcium and magnesium that make water hard. Salt Lake City Public Utilities' 2026 water quality report measured its canyon treatment plants at about 8 to 12 grains per gallon, and its wells and springs at up to 33.4. If you see white crust on faucets or spots on dishes, that's the hardness a softener removes.

What's the difference between a water softener and a salt-free conditioner?

A softener uses salt and ion exchange to actually remove hardness minerals, so you get truly soft water. A salt-free conditioner keeps the minerals in the water but stops them from sticking to pipes and appliances as scale, with no salt, no drain line and no electricity. If you want soft-feeling water and spot-free glass, choose a softener; if your main concern is protecting your plumbing without salt, a conditioner works.

Will a softener make my drinking water salty?

Not in the way most people worry about. Ion exchange swaps hardness minerals for a small amount of sodium, and the harder your water, the more sodium is added. If you're watching sodium, a reverse osmosis system at the kitchen sink removes it from your drinking and cooking water.

If I install a softener, do I still need reverse osmosis?

They solve different problems. A softener protects your whole home from hardness, while reverse osmosis purifies the water you drink by removing dissolved solids, and much of the chlorine taste as well. Many Salt Lake Valley homes pair the two: softener at the main line, RO at the kitchen sink.
