Sandy has two sides. The west side sits on the valley floor along I-15 and State Street, home to America First Field, where Real Salt Lake plays, plus the Shops at South Town, Jordan Commons, the Mountain America Exposition Center and the Hale Centre Theatre. The city is building a walkable downtown there called The Cairns.
The east side climbs the slopes of the Wasatch, with neighborhoods around the Sandy Amphitheater on 9400 South and Alta View Hospital on 1300 East, and trailheads like Bell Canyon and Rocky Mouth up along Little Cottonwood Road and Wasatch Boulevard.
Where Sandy's Water Comes From
Sandy City's Consumer Confidence Report says its sources include mountain streams, surface water reservoirs and a network of groundwater wells. Sandy Public Utilities buys water from the Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake and Sandy, which delivers all of the city's water supplies.
The city has 16 wells that pump from underground aquifers. They usually run only in summer to meet high demand and keep up pressure, so the mix at your tap can change with the season.
